Boseman's whistle brass key ring - KRT28B
Boseman whistle key ring is made of brass. It can be attached to your keys or hung on a chain. It is a perfect gift idea for a sailor, who will surely appreciate its symbolism.
Boseman's whistle is shaped like a pipe. Unlike other whistles, it does not have a ball in the center and thus the sound it makes is more like a human whistle. When the wind is blowing around and waves are hitting the ship, the star sound works well for giving commands.

Petty officer's whistle (boseman's whistle) is used to make a gangway swish, which is the signal given when an officer or ensign enters and leaves the ship. Honors by means of the swish are also given to persons holding official positions, as well as to foreign guests. The gangway swish is given regardless of the time of day or night. The signal of the petty officer's whistle is also heard during the raising and lowering of the flag on warships when there is no trumpeter on board. The gangway whistle is also made during funerals at sea when a sailor retires to his eternal watch.
