How to use a compass?
The compass should be placed on a flat surface, for example on a map lying on a table. It has a safety system that immobilizes the needle. Once this lock is released with the screw, the compass starts working. After a while of operation, the amplitude of the needle's deflection will decrease until the direction is finally stabilized. The compass should be placed in such a way that the red arrow coincides with the north direction. Once stabilized, the needle may tremble slightly. Map readers are accurate compasses, they are used to precisely determine the azimuth of a trip or route. On the inside of the compass there is a precise angular scale in the range of 0 - 360 degrees, which allows you to determine the azimuth, i.e. the angle between North and the desired place selected on the map. Before finishing work, the needle should be locked.
