Nocturnal - Information:
Nocturnal - star clock is a beautiful instrument for determining the time at night using the position of the stars. The device consists of a stationary dial divided into months, indicating all the days of the year, a movable dial with the determination of hours on a scale of 1-12 topped by an indicator - the moon's smiley face and a long arm of the movable indicator. In the middle of the device is a viewfinder, with which we track the Polar (North) Star - a fixed point around which other constellations, such as the Great Carriage, revolve. And precisely because the position of the North Star is fixed, we can relate to it the changing position of other constellations over time. Our device - a replica of a device from 1570 - is dedicated to the star Kochab in the constellation of the Little Carriage. But the most common and probably easiest way is to set the pointer arm on the back axis of the Great Carriage and the movable dial on the current date. This allows you to read the current star time. Please note that the star time does not necessarily coincide with the official time.
