MODEL 1921 SABRE - HISTORY
After Poland regained independence in 1918, the newly formed Polish Army used many different types of sabres from Russia, Austria-Hungary, Germany and France. In this situation, the Model 1921 sabre (Wz. 21) was introduced as the first fully official standard model of edged weapon of the restored Polish Army.
The Model 1921 sabre became a symbol of the new Polish Army and its return to Polish military traditions after 123 years of partitions.
There were two main versions: a soldier's version for privates and non-commissioned officers, and an officer's version, usually with a more decorative guard. The sabre was designed for use both on horseback and on foot. Its design referred to older Polish cavalry traditions.
Officer sabres often featured an eagle with a crown and Polish national mottos engraved on the blade, including the motto referring to God, Honour and Fatherland.
Important: This is a blunt replica. It has no functional features and is intended for decorative and collector purposes. It is not a functional weapon.
