Spherical brass astrolabe GLB-0020
Spherical astrolabe is a great gift for the astronomer and science enthusiast, that will bring a touch of science to your home and symbolize humanity's quest to explore the universe.
The armillary sphere served great scientists, e.g. Copernicus, for determining ecliptic and equatorial coordinates. Various mathematical calculations could be carried out on it, such as determining the time of sunrise and sunset, the length of the day, and the astronomical height of the sun and stars.
Extremely ornate astrolabes once adorned royal courts and houses of scholars. Now the armillary sphere will be a very elegant decoration for the office, study, or living room.
The centerpiece of the astrolabe is the Earth, which is surrounded by rings that represent the equator, the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, and the zodiacal ring. The latter indicates the annual path of the Sun through the zodiacal constellations.
