Brass sextant in a wooden box NC1517
The sextant is a precise navigational device that helped sailors determine their position at sea and plot their course. The sextant is used to measure the angles and heights of celestial bodies above the horizon. To this day, sailing adepts learn to use this historic instrument to be able to determine the position of the ship in the event of a GPS system failure.
The NC1517 brass sextant is a replica of the British Kelvin & Hughes sextant from 1917. The device is fully functional. It will be an elegant, marine decoration of a study, office or a cabin. Perfect as a gift for a sailor or astronomer.
